WALKING IN FREEDOM

On the night before Jesus was betrayed He shared the Passover meal with the disciples and during that meal introduced what has become known as the Lord’s Supper.

He broke bread as a symbol of His body that would be broken on the Cross the following day, and He took a cup and said that its contents were a symbol of His blood that would be shed. Jesus would lay down His life for His followers and by so doing they would be set free from their sin and would experience eternal life.

He told His followers that they are to continue to celebrate the Lord’s Supper in order to remember what the Lord has done for us. In a sense, every time we take part in the Lord’s Supper we have a Remembrance Day where we think back to what Jesus did for us so that we might walk in spiritual liberty and freedom.

Psalm 119:45 says “I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments.”

On the cross, Jesus set us free from our sin and the guilt and shame that accompanies it. We receive that freedom by faith and then we are called to walk in that freedom, never allowing sin to once again enslave us. On this Remembrance Day, take time to remember the cost of your salvation and determine, by God’s grace and power, to walk in freedom today.
