In the heart of every human lies a longing for love, a deep desire to be known, cherished, and embraced. This longing reflects a universal truth: we are created in the image of a God whose very essence is love. Throughout history, poets, mystics, and theologians have sought to unravel the mystery of this divine love, often describing it as a great cycle—a dance of love between God and humanity.
At the center of this dance is the unconditional love of God, a love that knows no bounds, no conditions, no limits. It is a love that seeks us out in our brokenness and calls us by name, inviting us to join in the dance. This love is not static but dynamic, constantly moving, flowing, and transforming.
The first movement of this dance is creation, where God’s love bursts forth in a symphony of colours, shapes, and sounds. Everything in creation sings of God’s love—the soaring eagle, the blooming flower, the babbling brook—all are expressions of God’s great love cycle.
The second movement is redemption, where God’s love takes on flesh and dwells among us in the person of Jesus Christ. In Jesus, we see the fullness of God’s love displayed—his compassion for the outcast, his healing touch for the sick, his forgiveness for the sinner. The cross becomes the ultimate symbol of this love, where Jesus lays down his life for us, demonstrating the depth of God’s love for humanity.
The third movement is transformation, where God’s love continues to work in us and through us, shaping us into the image of Christ. This transformation is not easy—it requires us to let go of our old ways, to die to ourselves, and to be reborn in Christ. But through this process, we become more fully who God created us to be—bearers of his love in the world.
The final movement is consummation, where God’s love brings all things to completion. This is the ultimate goal of the divine dance—to be fully united with God in love, to dwell in his presence forever, to experience the fullness of joy and peace that comes from being in communion with our Creator.
As we reflect on this divine dance of love, may we be drawn ever deeper into the heart of God, may we join in the dance with all creation, and may we be transformed by the power of God’s great love cycle.
