I urge concerned, reasonable and respected parents everywhere across Ontario to keep up the focus and pressure so that the right thing happens with regard to this curriculum. Please keep the “spin” out of this and focus where it belongs…on all of our kids. Remember everyone…a curriculum that is factual and not a tool for social engineering of our kids is nothing to fear. I want factual information for my kids and I intend to continue to provide it and guide them along in a natural, honest and caring way. My school can be a help in this journey of life…but the truth is….these materials are tainted. Premier Wynne a reminder that parents are experts too, we are experts about our own children and we should have been provided an opportunity to inform this curriculum…we weren’t. Premier do the right thing…slow down and examine the legitimate concerns that exist. YOUR Deputy minister and his conviction cannot be dismissed…we are concerned about his role and calling my concerns homophobic is disappointing and only feeds the public suspicion around this material. I’m not interested in piling onto the issues surrounding Mr. Levin…he is as imperfect as all of us…no more and no less….I will not throw stones at him or his crime because I know only too well my own frailties and imperfections. He is not the issue…the issue is the arrogance of a government who refuses to acknowledge the concerns of its citizenry despite the facts of the story which are…1) No meaningful parental consultation despite a commitment to do so; 2) Deputy Minister who in his own words had a strong hand in oversight and direction of this curriculum and its development….convicted of child pornography. Can we please all remember that there is not a more intimate or personal or beautiful subject that we will likely ever confront and impart to our kids in those moments known as parent child “talks”. I take that seriously and I believe most parents do as well….Ms. Wynne…lets talk about this….please be ready to listen….do the right thing and let’s turn the channel away from the hue and cry of recent days. Slow down and invite us to the table….we expect and needed to have been there right from the start.
